1. Summary
FYWay is an iOS walking map published by Equilibrium Apps. The app does not require an account. The developer does not operate an FYWay server that stores your location, camera images or walking history. FYWay does not include advertising trackers or developer analytics.
2. Device permissions
Location
FYWay requests access to your location while you use the app. Location supports the You Are Here marker, nearby place searches, walking ranges, directions and live wayfinding. You may also choose a point on the map instead of using your current location.
Camera
FYWay requests camera access when you open live wayfinding. Camera frames are displayed and processed on your device. FYWay does not record, save or upload camera images.
Motion and direction
The app uses device orientation and compass readings to point direction indicators. FYWay does not send a sensor history to the developer.
3. External services
FYWay contacts third-party services to provide maps, routes and place information. Requests may reveal your IP address and an approximate search area to those providers.
- Apple MapKit provides map tiles, map features and walking directions.
- OpenStreetMap Overpass services provide nearby landmark and building data.
- Wikidata and Wikipedia provide English place descriptions and links.
These providers process requests under their own policies. See Apple Privacy, OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy and Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy.
4. External websites
When you tap a Website, Wikipedia or Wikidata link for a place, FYWay opens that page in Apple's in-app Safari view. This view shows the website address and provides standard Safari security and privacy controls.
FYWay does not access your browsing history, AutoFill information, website data or interactions within this browser view. The app does not add your location, a user identifier or tracking parameters to these links. The external website may use cookies or collect information under its own privacy and cookie policies.
5. Storage on your device
FYWay stores app preferences, onboarding status and cached landmark responses on your device. Caching improves speed and gives limited fallback information when a network service is unavailable. iOS removes app data when you delete the app, subject to Apple backup and device settings.
6. Data collected by the developer
The developer does not collect personal data through FYWay. If you contact support through GitHub, GitHub processes the information you submit under its own privacy statement. Do not include personal or precise location data in a public issue.
7. Your choices
You control location and camera permissions in iOS Settings. Blocking a permission disables the feature that needs it. You may clear locally stored app data by deleting FYWay from your device.
8. Children
FYWay is not designed to collect personal data from children. The app does not require an account and the developer does not knowingly collect personal data from any user through the app.
9. Changes to this policy
This page will show a new effective date when the policy changes. Material changes will accompany an app update or updated App Store information where appropriate.
10. Contact
For privacy questions, use the FYWay support page. Do not publish personal data, camera images or precise location details.
