Privacy Policy

How Azores Travel Guide handles local favorites, optional location access, guide data and external services.

Updated October 2, 2026
No account required. Favorites stay in your browser or on your device. Equilibriumpress does not add advertising or behavioral analytics to the app or website.

1. Publisher and scope

Equilibriumpress publishes Azores Travel Guide and is responsible for the personal information handled for its support and guide services. This policy covers the website, web guide and iPhone and iPad app. Contact equilibrium.publisher@gmail.com for privacy requests.

2. Local favorites and preferences

The app stores saved-place identifiers, language preferences and cached guide content on your device. The web guide stores favorites and cached content in browser storage. These records are not sent to an Equilibriumpress user account. Device or browser backup features follow your system settings and the relevant provider's policy.

Local favorites and preferences stay until you remove them or clear the app or website data. Cached content is replaced during updates or removed through cache management. A cache refresh interval is not a deletion deadline.

3. Optional location

The native app requests location permission when you choose a location feature. Location centers the map and estimates straight-line distances to places. These distances are not walking directions. The app processes these calculations on your device and does not send your coordinates to the editorial content service or store a location history. Background location is not used.

Read guides and places without allowing location access. Withdraw permission in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, Location Services, Azores Travel Guide. For website permissions, use your browser's site settings. Apple map services handle map requests under Apple's privacy policy.

4. Content delivery and technical requests

Your device requests guides, places, walks and images from content, website and image hosting services. These services receive your IP address, requested resource and technical information included with the request, such as request timing and browser or app information. This information supports content delivery, reliability and security. Equilibriumpress does not use these requests to build advertising profiles.

Provider logs follow the hosting service's configuration and retention rules. Contact us for information about the retention applicable to a request. Clearing local app or browser data does not delete provider logs.

5. Maps, images and other recipients

The website is hosted by GitHub Pages. The web map loads OpenStreetMap tiles through Leaflet, and the native app uses Apple MapKit. Map requests reveal the requested map area to the map provider. Photos load from Wikimedia Commons and other credited image hosts. These providers receive the request information needed to supply their services.

Other recipients include our content hosting and delivery providers and our email provider for support correspondence. Opening a Google Maps route, tourism source or venue website sends you to a separate service with its own privacy policy. See GitHub privacy, Apple privacy, OpenStreetMap privacy, Wikimedia privacy and Google privacy.

6. Purchases

Apple processes the Complete Azores purchase. The app uses Apple-supplied product, transaction and entitlement information to check access and restore purchases. Equilibriumpress does not receive payment-card details. Apple retains its purchase records under its own policy. Deleting the app does not erase those records or cancel a completed one-time purchase.

7. Support correspondence

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you include. We use these to answer your request, investigate the reported issue and handle follow-up. Send only information relevant to the request.

We retain correspondence while needed to resolve the issue and handle related follow-up. Afterward, we delete information no longer needed, except records required for a legal obligation or an ongoing legal claim. These exceptions apply only for the period necessary for that purpose.

8. Purposes and legal grounds

Where the GDPR applies, our legitimate interests support delivering and securing the guide and responding to general inquiries. Handling purchase-related support relies on performing the purchase contract where necessary. A legal obligation supports records we are required to keep. Our legitimate interest in establishing or defending legal claims supports records needed for an ongoing dispute.

Optional location access depends on your system permission. Withdrawing access stops future location access and does not affect reading the guide. Local preferences support the features you select.

9. International processing

Some hosting, image, map, payment and email providers operate outside the European Economic Area. Their policies explain their international processing and safeguards. Contact us for details of recipients, processing locations and the applicable transfer arrangements for information handled on our behalf.

10. Your rights and deleting local data

Depending on the processing and applicable law, you have rights to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests and receive portable data. Where processing relies on consent, you have the right to withdraw consent. Email us to exercise these rights. We respond within the applicable legal deadline and request only the information necessary to verify your request.

Remove individual favorites using the save control. To clear all website favorites and cached content, clear this site's data in your browser settings. To remove the native app's local data, choose Delete App in iOS Settings, General, iPhone or iPad Storage. Offloading preserves app data. Manage any device backups separately. We cannot remotely erase records stored only on your device.

You have the right to complain to a supervisory authority, including the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens or the authority in your country of residence, work or the alleged infringement.

11. Policy updates and contact

The revision date identifies the current policy. We update this page when the service or its processing changes. Contact equilibrium.publisher@gmail.com with questions or requests.
