Privacy Policy

Sakura Spots Japan is designed to work without an account. This policy explains what information the app uses and how.

Location

The app requests access to your location only when you choose a location-based feature, such as centering the map on your position or sorting Sakura locations by distance. Location access is optional.

Your precise location is used on your device for map display and distance calculations. Sakura Spots Japan does not send your device location to our own servers. Browsing locations, prefectures and Sakura season information does not require location access.

You can change or withdraw location permission at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Location Services → Sakura Spots Japan. If location access is disabled, the rest of the app remains available, apart from features that depend on your position.

Saved locations

Locations you mark as favourites are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple system storage. They are not uploaded to our servers.

Editorial app content

Sakura Spots Japan retrieves public-facing travel content from a curated editorial database. This includes place names, coordinates, descriptions, photos, practical visit information and seasonal information. Retrieving this content does not require a user account and is not used to create a personal profile.

Seasonal forecasts

Regional Sakura forecasts and viewing periods are editorial travel information. Forecast information may be updated throughout the Sakura season as newer information becomes available. These updates concern destination and seasonal content, not personal information about app users.

External services

The app may open Apple Maps for directions and may link to tourism, source, photography or forecast websites. Those services operate under their own privacy policies. When you choose to open an external service, that service may process information according to its own practices.

Photos and remote content

Some images and other public content are loaded from external sources. A request to retrieve remote content may expose standard technical information, such as an IP address, to the hosting provider as part of normal internet communication. Sakura Spots Japan does not use those requests to build an advertising profile.

Tracking and advertising

Sakura Spots Japan does not use advertising identifiers and does not track you across apps or websites for advertising purposes.

Analytics

The current version does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Data retention and deletion

Sakura Spots Japan does not maintain an account or a central user profile containing your favourites or precise location. Favourites are stored on your device, so you control their retention. Removing a favourite deletes that saved item from the app. Removing the app removes its local app data according to iOS behaviour.

If future versions introduce account-based storage, analytics or other personal-data processing, this policy and the app’s App Store privacy information will be updated to describe those practices and the available privacy controls.

Children

Sakura Spots Japan is a general travel utility and is not designed to collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy when app features, external services or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page shows the latest revision.
